Providing unsurpassed customer service has always been a priority at the Wyndham Tampa Westshore, but thanks to specialized sensitivity and awareness training, the staff at the Wyndham can now provide an even higher level of service to our guests that are affected by autism. The Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD) at the University of South Florida (USF) has designated the Wyndham Tampa Westshore as the first “Autism-Friendly” hotel in Tampa and has provided appropriate sensitivity training to Wyndham staff members in order to properly assist parents and children who are affected by autism.
- As an “Autism-Friendly” hotel, the Wyndham Tampa Westshore will be provided with an “Autism-Friendly Toolbox” from CARD that guests of the hotel can check out. This “toolbox” will include comfort items and a story about the Wyndham Tampa Westshore that will prepare the child for their overnight adventure.
- This toolbox will also include detailed information about the hotel for the parents to use so that any questions the child may have about the hotel can be answered quickly and effortlessly, setting the child’s mind at ease.
- Part of the “Autism-Friendly” designation includes ongoing and continuous training of Wyndham staff by CARD at USF.
- Additionally, a training tool is being created by CARD for all Wyndham new hires, so that no employee will miss this important training.
